While I still maintain a .35 Rem or Whelen or 9.3 X62, are better hog hammers, I saw some very nice sporterized A3 03 in your price range but barrel was only 22.5".

PS: gunaction.com - nice wood to boot - C&R OK

The 'basic' hog gun is no different than the basic deer gun. A 30-30 John Wayne assault rifle will do just fine.!!!!
