Default A Gift

Hey all, sorry if this is in the wrong section. So here's the first question I have, if I get any replies I'm sure I'll have more. I was thinking I'd get my Dad an M1 for Christmas this year since it was the rifle he used in the service, and we go shooting together often. Since I've been searching I've found that there is an M1 Gerand, and an M1 Carbine. So which one would be the one he used and what's the difference? He was in the Army around 50ish years ago if that helps at all. Any input would be greatly appreciated, but please, not too much lingo because I'll have no idea what you're talking about.

P.S. I know very well I could Google for an answer but I'd like to hear some input and opinions from experienced gun people before I go spending over 1K.

Thanks much!!

Just ask him "out of curiosity".

When you get an answer, we'll be happy to help you. You sound like a good son.

You will have to ask him as he could have been issued either as they were both in use at the same time.

I'm actually a good daughter lol.. I'll definitely ask him though and then I'll probably be back with some questions about what to look for when I'm buying.

Thanks to both of you!

Love it... I'll leave this thread open so my daughter can't help but see it.. right next to the ad for that Colt I've had my eyes on

BTW, is Claymore from the sword or the anime series or something that goes "pop"?
