Default First gun

Hey y'all,
For anyone who saw my previous posts , you know that my family isn't at all gun friendly. In fact, telling you we are from Massachusetts sums it up.

Any who, I finally convinced them that guns arnt all bad so today I went out and purchased my first rifle. A Mosine Nagant. Nothing special, but thought I would share with you.

Also, this cosmoline crap is terrible. I need to go git me a steam cleaner.

That's great news chip and very nice looking Mosin! Maybe you can get the rest of your family to shoot also when they get used to being around guns.

Well, at least you didn't get something loud and flashy that would scare them off.

Beautiful rifle! In this summer heat, you might leave it in your trunk on some thick paper to melt out some of the cosmo; i haven't tried this myself but have seen it recommended.

Thanks all. So here is how my day went. bought gun at 1 oclock, got home at 2 and now I have completely striped every part of the rifle and melted out the cosmoline with my sisters hair dryer...shhh . it is now reassembled and oiled and ready for the range. The stoke is in beautiful condition and the bore has both strong rifling and a shiny finish and no fouling.

Unfortunately most web sites wont ship to MA including the one recommended and local shops dont sell by the can . looks like im shipping to my dad in Nh from now on

Looks nice!

Wait till you shoot it, I like mine better than my AK or Garand.

Recoil pads(about the only accessory made) are @8$ online.
