First Firearm
Hi,
would it be better to Buy a rifle or revolver for a first firearm?
(I was thinking about the Anschutz 1710 DHB or the Smith and Wesson 617)
Thanks,

My opinion is buy a .22 rifle such as the Marlin 60 or Ruger 10/22 for your first firearm. You'll have a lot of fun shooting those and learn a lot about guns in the process. Plus, they're cheap to shoot.

IIRC the Anschutz is a .22.
Excellent choice if you can afford it.
Of course the S&W 617 is a superb choice is also a top of the line weapon.

Much lower chance you will shoot yourself in the foot with a rifle. Just sayin'.

Start with the rifle; easier to learn to steady your sights when you have a longer barrel and sight radius. You will probably have quicker success with the rifle and less chance of losing interest in shooting.
I still have my first .22 rifle; got it in 1977 for Christmas (did not put out any human eyes, just squirrels').

Armed bear-on-bear pit fights? Winner gets shaved and mailed to Oprah? Sounds good, maybe some pay-per-view?
