Well this thread sure took a turn, but back to the fire issue,I would just grab the guns that aren't in the safes and hope it didn't make it out to my shop where all my reloading supplies and a large amount of ammo is stored.

Default On the way out the door.

I'd have a kid under each arm and be kicking the 3'd in the ass on my way out the door as well as shooing two dogs out too, the Kids & dogs would trump the guns.

Then on the other hand if each kid had ahold of a long arm on the way out that would = 6...........................................Hmmmmm m cool!

Could just tie all yer guns to one rope and tie the rope to yer leg when outside ya could drag the rope out the house with all yer guns attached?

OMG That made me cry. Dragging guns, the same thing happens everytime the toss a 1911 or any firearm for that matter in the movies. It makes my heart sad to see some one doesn't love their guns like their children.

Really good discussion.

Although academic for most of us, the debate was my only motivation.

A remote but possible danger in the mid-south is the chance of a serious earthquake, caused by the New Madrid Fault in s.e. MO.

Really?? Because the military buys .700 in SHORT ACTION and the .300 Win Mag is a MAGNUM ACTION... You can't turn one into the other just by wishing it to be so I am afraid....

So, I highly doubt this is the case....

Even if it WAS the case, it'd mean he's a thief.

The OP would not be the first to "permanantly borrow" a military issued weapon, trust me, it happens all the time. As for which ones to save in a fire, all of them, bust out a damn window and throw them out in the yard, if the window is not barred and you are no higher then a 2-3 stories and follow right behind them. This would take less than a minute to do, if not 30 seconds. If you are ex-military, airborne, remember to bend your knees and tuck and roll. Problem solved.
