If you don't mind doing some mods to a Mosin, a receiver mounted scope and a Timney trigger and you have a completely different gun. I paid more for the trigger then I did for the gun but it fixed the two worst issues, trigger pull and the safety. Now it's the first I grab for hunting, but if I know I am just going to still hunt a woods... model 336 Marlin 30-30. For plinking, Henry .22 lr. Just too many out there to have a favorite.

There are small game , varmint, preditor, woods deer, open country deer and pronghorn, elk , large game and the big bore rifles. So are you looking for one of each type or one out of the whole bunch ? I like all of them. But the rifle I shoot the most is a Cooper 57 M LVT 17 HMR . Prairie dog pup shooting takes a lot of ammo.

I just bought a Henry 45-70 today, I am looking forward to shooting it, I bet it's got some kick.

I've shot a .45-70 Govt. Not too bad of a recoil really.

I believe mine would have to be my Win. 1873 rifle in 44-40 cal. Its the only winchester in my collection i could hold on to after i lost my job awhile ago. Antiqued cond, patina, and shootable. Took it to last gun show and after getting numerous offers i just couldn't part with it. Just need to find black powder ammo for a 130 yr old rifle.

That would be an impossible question for me to answer - I own a couple Mosins,a 91/30 and a 44 carbine - while I enjoy shooting them (surplus ammo is still available and relatively cheap) Id rather shoot .308 thru my A-Bolt - I could go on and on = my father gave me a 10/22 when I was 10 in the early 70's and while I hardly ever shoot it = I wouldnt sell it for any amount because of the sentimental factor. As far as the fun factor,I LOVE to rattle off ammo through my AR's - the 15 and the 10, but if I dont load my own then I feel as though I just wasted alot of money so I only do this sparingly these days. The older I get the more handgun I shoot = that would be a good topic = Favorite handgun

Glad you were able to hang on to that one! An old, antique gun like that is so special - a real piece of history - connecting you to all the people in the past who owned it and used it - and likely used it for serious matters...
