i vote for keeping the model 70, or getting more along in trade with the rifle, maybe cash, ammo, case.

Thanks for the replys. I think you guys have reassured me that the value of my mdl 70 is in the $600 range. I agree that the 300 Win Mag is fantastic. It is just way overkill for what I need. I am trying to put a dollar amount expected on the two guns for a trade situation. I am not talking ballistics. I know what the 300 can do. No, I am not wanting to trade for any 22 plinker, even if it is a lever gun. I have a Marlin 39A Golden. I am looking specifically for a 9422M XTR with checkered wood in excellent condition, no scope mounting marks, complete with front sight hood and all original with no modifications. No, my mind is not made up, as I do not have a trader. I look at Gun Broker and see that the 9422M is quite a high price gun. I want one to compliment my Colt single action 22 Mag. OK, so what do you feel the 9422M XTR with checkered wood, in excellent condition is worth? Thanks

If you're really got your heart set on the 22, it might be a reasonable trade, for you. The cheapest I've found on the 9422M is around 750, except for a basket case that needed work and it was still over 400 bucks. I wouldn't make this trade but for you it might be worth it.

When it comes to trades someone usually makes out better in dollar value. What the traders have to do is fill the need each has with the item the other has. In other words if it works for you do it if it don't, then don't. I would ask for a little sweetener cash to even out the trade.
