Recently got a variation of an Enfield rifle. It's a .303 British. It says US PROPERTY near the breach. Can anyone tell me how to figure out if this is an Enfield, Savage, or what?

Start by getting some pictures up, and ALL the markings.

You MIGHT have a P14, Remington or Eddystone. Does it look like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattern_1914_Enfield

US Property was a convenient fiction- Lend-lease.

Ok. I'll see what I can do. I'm brand new to this forum and haven't quite figured out how to navigate this site. I'll get pics up ASAP.

No. That's not it. I'll post a few more pics.

Savage manufactured No4 MkI* lend-lease rifle.

"Sporterized". Pics are a little fuzzy--is that some kind of aftermarket sight on top
of the receiver?

I don't know if it aftermarket or not. Sorry for the bad pic. I'll try to get better pics up tomorrow.

Here's how I got the rifle. My wife and I own a tattoo shop in Minnesota. I posted an ad on Craigslist to trade tattoo work for stuff. This guy said he had an Enfield. So we traded. I got this rifle 2 days ago. Shot it before the trade. Shoots great! Just can't find any info that matches to the markings on the gun. So I figured I'd post it here.
