well mulie, send me some elk meat, i'm ready to make chili! BTW, elk meat chile is great, a man i worked for several years ago gave me a bunch of elk meat to make chili for all the guys at work, (i love to make chili almost as much as i love to shoot guns!) and was it good eating. he brought me some deer meat later and some impala meat and i made chili out it too for the guys. you can use just about anything to make chili. glad you two got some nice elks. bet you had a great time too.

While I wouldn't say they are equal, the .308 is only about 100fps behind the .30-06 with a 180gr bullet, which shortens its effective range by about 50-75 yards (for a given minimum impact velocity).

Expediency comes in so many shapes and sizes.

I'm reminded of the hunter who went to see his FFL

at a LGS every year, right before deer season,

and bought two 30-30 cartridges.

A new clerk at the store checked with the FFL, who told him

where the box of 30-30 was from which to draw the requested

shells, and upon asking the hunter why only two 30-30

bullets every year, the hunter responded:

"I've only got two deer tags..."

IMO, efficiency and practicality in anyone's book.
