until you have shot or owned one, you might reserve those comments.
I have shot the X7 rifles and I own an XT rifle. They are OK but I would prefer a nicer rifle if I can afford it. I regret buying the XT. I should have bought a nicer rifle. Since hunting season is either started or about to start they have a year to save for a nice rifle.

Really she needs some time before she buys any rifle. A 30/30 doesn't have a noticeable recoil. The noise and a little recoil combined with an ill fitting stock made for a less than pleasurable experience with the 30/30.

My niece is a gun nut. She can tack at 108 (her, saddle and helmet). She is a professional athlete. She shoots any rifle just like I would. Size really has nothing to do with it. The OP's wife just needs some trigger time. We all have seen hunting shows where a small woman hunts with a 300 mag. There is no magic involved. The woman just has enough trigger time to shoot anything.

well i beg to differ with you comments about price point rifles as you called them. my Marlins will hold their own with any Remingtom M700 i own as well as my Ruger M77's or my fathers old Winchester M70. i have yet to shoot a an X7 series or an Axis rifle that wasn't accurate. they also functioned very well and are well made rifle. and given they can usually be bought for way less that $400 NIB, that goes a long ways in my book. pardon the pun, but the Marlins and the Savages are great bang for the buck for those on a budget, but want an accurate and quality made rifle.

i will probably never buy another M700 new again, simply because i can buy a Marlin X7 for less than half the price and still have an accurate and well made rifle, that IMO is every bit as good as the Remington M700. Remington may offer more versions and calibers, but if i need something that i can't get in an X7, then i'll buy a used M700 and build a rifle.

not saying that a woman can't handle a large magnum rifle, but the OP did say she was a bit recoil sensative. not the kind of person to be handing a 300 W.M. to for her first rifle.

I am entitled to my opinion just as you are. Anytime I make a post you disagree with you get out of hand. WTF is wrong with you?
