The older Win 94 used a top eject. The newer 94's had angle eject and would take a top mounted scope. There are barrel mount rails available for a scout type set up. My personal preference runs to lower power and a 2-7 would be my max. I would go 1-4 myself. Burris makes a Fullfied II in your price range as does Redfield. You would need a pistol scope for the scout set up.

nothing wrong with going with open sights on the M94. there are many who hunt with lever actioned rifles who can't bear putting a scope on one. i pesonally like a lever action without a scope, but there are those who like a scope on one. try it without a scope, you might just like it like that.

Except for my 39a and my 308mxlr i wont put a scope on a lever action. 30/30 is the reason. Simply bc to me a 30/30 is more accurate w irons than w a scope.....then again i dont think its a great round anyways. Seen to many deer run after being shot w one that shouldnt have moved.

Do you have the short screws to put in the holes?( for your 94?) don't loose the lever pin thats in the bigger hole, with the top eject you will more that likely have to mount your scope ass back wards, with the side wind age as up and your up/down wind age to the left side to allow the empties to clear the scope when ejected.. if this makes sense to you..

I got the Nikon Prostaff Scope on my wife's Marlin 30 30. Nice scope bright, clear, BDC and lifetime warranty.
