Sorry the pic posted 5 times, the app messed up on me.
I have a Winchester® 30-30 I'm looking to put a scope on it, there was one on it when I got it, but it was B.B. gun quality.
Questions:
1. What is a good zoom for a 30-30's range (300-400 yards I believe, but not sure)
2. I think I would like a nikon, but would like to explore other brand options. What are a few good brands?
3. The scope mount is a bit odd. It's above the iron sights but is mounted left of center. Will this mount do, is it proper? (Accurcy wise)
ALSO: For my scope I'm looking to spend about $150-$220. If that's cheap and won't get me a reasonable accurate scope please be honest if that's your opinion.
THE BIG THREADED HOLE IN THE PICTURE IS WERE THE OLD SCOPE MOUNTED

His is a top eject model so yes it has to be side mounted. 150-175 yards is max ID personally shoot a 30-30. So yes a good 3-9x40 is good for that. You might look into redfield, weaver, and vortex.

check out the Nikon Prostaff in 2-7x32 or even the 3-9x40, either one is in your price and i have a Prostaff in 4-12x40 w/ the BDC reticle on my 25-06. it's a grat scope. i am fixing to go with to the Nikon Coyote Special in 4.5-14x40 with the Realtree camo, just because the rifle has the camo stock and i really do like the Nikon optics. i paid less than $200 for my Nikon, so it's definately in your price range and would be a very nice scope for that rifle.

I had a Sightron SI 3-9x32mm on my .308BLR. I used it for woods hunting. Great little scope. The new owner had intensions of putting a Leupold on it but liked the Sightron so he kept it on there.

Here is a scope thats a very good buy pricewise and has very good glass in it. Basically a $290 or so Weaver grand slam scope for only $120. Have recommended this scope to several gents with a 30-30 and after getting it they were very pleased with it.

You'll probably have to mount the scope with the side wind age up and the up/down wind age to the left side so the ejected cases done hit your turret caps. I just took my scope off my Win. 94.. just ain't right to scope such a fine lever gun...lol
