CZ-527 American - thoughts/comments?

I've got a line on a "used" NIB CZ-527 American in .223. With a decent scope. Haven't held it yet - but I have a CZ-452 in .22LR and really like it.
Will be 95% 100-200 yard target rifle.
Any thoughts or comments from shooters?

I have no personal experience with one, but it is well received by many and gets great reviews. What kind of mag comes with that rifle? I'm a fan of blind mags, especially for a field gun. .223 is good inexpensive round. I have a Ruger Hawkeye All-Weather SS chambered in it with a 4-12 x40 Elite Bushnell...great set up.

It's a great rifle from what I hear. I was hoping to buy one, but the funds never panned out. At the gun shop where I used to work, we never had one complaint about any CZ rifle.

Just remember it's a carbine and you're good to go. I wouldn't try to push it out more than maybe 300yds. so it should be perfect for what you want. I also think having a five round detachable mag in that particular rifle is very cool.

i've owned a CZ 527 American left hand gun in .223 for three or four years. The scope is the excellent Leupold FXIII 6X42. Using my handloads that gun routinely makes groups of <3/4" at 100 meters.

I have a .223 527 Varminter. There is nothing negative I can say about the rifle. I use mine for small targets at distance, so it wears a Sightron SII 6.5-20x42mmAO. The single set trigger is unbelievable. The two stage is great, but for targets, vermin the single set is outstanding. You give it the gentlest squeeze and "bang". If your getting it for a good price, grab it and don't look back. One really good point about the CZ in .223. It has a CIP chamber, so you can fire 5.56 surplus ammo and it is still covered by the warrantee. I have a boat load of 5.56, so I was very happy. Great for plinking.

;)
Where in NY are you? I grew up there.

I currently live in NYC - Brooklyn. I grew up in rural Western Massachusetts.
You? NYC or NYS?

Western Ma! We had a summer house in Stephentown NY. The top of the mountain was Hancock Ma. It was also about 4 miles by road. I grew up on L.I., My Dad was from Brooklyn, my Mom from Queens. We use to practice Small bore at a range in the basement of Island Trees high school in Levittown. Can you go to little Odessa and get some Russian hot mustard?

Unless it is the varmint it has a 1x12 twist. The varmint has 1x8 twist. Mine likes 45 grn a lot better than 55 grn. Not enough twist to stabilize heavier bullets. With 45 grn it will shoot clover leafs at 100 yds. I need to try some 50 grn. The set trigger is very sensitive. I blew quite a few shots before I learned to use it properly.
JP: Are all the 527's good for 5.56 or just the varmint?
