I know he picks a tried and true traditional platform, then picks .500 S&W, and .450 Bushmaster.

Blue has an excellent idea here. You could use a M1903A1 action and add your 28" custom barrel, build the custom stock with the recoil reduction, swivels, etc, drill it for a scope mount (though there are scope mounts that will fit on the unaltered 1903 receiver) and everything else you are looking for.

I just realized that I have everything here to build it up. Let me know and I can have it for you in a few weeks. It'll run about $5,000, give or take.

I have been building custom rifles of various types for over thirty years. When I get a request like this one, I confess to lacking the ability to build such a thing; that's the easiest way to avoid the job and the client. A custom rifle has to make a certain amount of sense. This is silliness. GD

I think this fellow is in a state like Indiana. They can only use rifles chambered for handgun ammo. I see this on many hunting forums. I doubt that he has any idea what a Wild Cherry stock blank would cost?

The .450 Bushmaster is a rifle caliber though.
