Beautiful weapon...257 Roberts is a great caliber for small game up to deer and maybe beyond..great chuck shooting for distance, flat trajectory..just to enlighten you...their also is a 257 Wby..just a little better than the Roberts.

Default Roberts

The only time I want to hear this name is when refering to the old lady [Mrs Roberts] who sold me my house at the lake. If you buy a gun like this you can imagine driving about a hundred miles to find the ammo. Its an old cartrige that has seen many much improved calibers released/invented since.

I don't know where your located, but here in Tx.,the 257 Roberts cartridge is a pretty common deer hunting caliber and is available at most places that sell ammo. But then again, most people that shoot it are handloaders and never worry about having to buy factory ammo from a store.
