Could someone tell me what kind of gun this is?

I have no idea what kind of gun this is. Yes I am aware that it is a very cheap gun that is of little, if any, value. I inherited it from a good friend and for that reason would love to know what it is. I have searched the gun over and compeletely disassembled it and find no numbers or manufacturer. It says 22 on the bolt and on the butt of the gun, but the gun is not a 22.

Agreed. It seems to be a training rifle, or it has one hell of a story to tell, based on the amount of markings on the stock.

Yep a MG trainer. They were built just like the firearm that the soldiers was going to carry Except they were in .22 to save ammo cost.

So how could I find a serial number for the gun or go about find a manufacture date?
