depends on what caliber the SPS is you have decided on, intended use and purpose, what range you want to shoot at, whether you like bolt actions better than semi auto, or vice versa. two different platforms of rifles and not enough details to make an informed recommendation.

do you already own an AR? if yes go with the remmy.. if not go with the ruger. both should be accurate enough. probly burn more ammo faster with the AR.

The Rem says tactical but is chambered for the 223 not the 5.56x45. To me, tactical means it will handle military ammo. I would have to reject the Rem or pay to get it re chambered. I would look at the Mossberg MVP which is chambered for the 5.56x45 and uses AR mags. Both use the 1:9 twist.
Now if you are looking at 308 the Rem is using a 1:12 twist where a 1:10 twist is being used in most tactical 308 rifles. Just because it says tactical does not mean it is. Again a reject for me but you are the one with the money and you can get whatever you like.

Remington is not known for sturmgewehr. Of these 2 choices, definitely the ruger not the remington.

Remington is famous as the favored opponent of Winchester in the scoped sniper rifle contest. And those are .308s, although the performance by the .300s is vastly superior to the 308s at distances beyond 500 yds.

If you do decide on an Ar-15, you can get a lot better quality for the money than a Ruger.

I agree. There are better options for the money.

For an all around fun firearm the AR wins my vote. It is also more versatile.

Does it really matter in a bolt gun? I was under the impression that a bolt action was stronger than a semi?

Also, I love Ruger, but there is no way that is get an SR556, Waaay overpriced for what you get in my opinion.
