I have one at my dads house, though I've never really considered it mine, that is from the 70's I believe with a gold trigger and a scope on it. The only two times I've ever seen it fired was when it kissed my dad and left him bleeding.......and my grandfather who though it was funny as hell told him he didn't know how to shoot, picked it up and got kissed himself. When we got back to the house my mom thought they'd gone out thrown down with one another. That was back in the mid 80's. I don't think it's been fired since. Having a scope on a 30-30 never worked out because of it's design. It can be done, but I rarely see them with one.

I was planning on going to the range with it tonight, er well I did go to the range with it, only to find out they have no 30-30 ammo in stock. Being as this is the first 30-30 I've owned myself, I had no ammo for it. Left the range and went to Academy Sports to get some, they were out of stock. Got pissed off about this whole ammo shortage thing, went to Walmart to check. Of course, they had none either but it just so happened that they had just stocked the Ammo shelf and I scored a 100 round Federal .223 box for $35. Just figures, when I wasn't looking for 30-30 I saw it everywhere....and now that I need some it appears to be nonexistent.

It was going to be, but that's one of the few guns I have wanted for a while now and I decided I couldn't do without. I took it to the range today and put 14 rounds through it. Shoots like a champ, even using 30 year old Remington ammo.
