However if I were only going to be punching holes in paper the .223 is the answer. If hunting is in the picture then the .270 is the answer. Mine particularly likes the 140gr SST Superformance by Hornady and will put bullet after bullet through the same hole at 100yds so although more expensive it is a viable target gun as well. Just my $0.02
I'm given to understand the .270 gives a very
flat trajectory at
long distances, compared to .308 or 30-06.
But the additional expense just for punching paper
seems a little over the top...
