Default Bump Fire Legality

Is bump firing legal? From what I understand they made the ring and string F/A trick illegal but what about just bump firing? What about with the assisting of a rubber band like some do?

I doubt it's illegal but good luck trying to find a public range that allows it.

Bump firing is fun to do once or twice but after that it is a huge waste of ammo.

Default Bump Fire Legality?

Hello Explode/All

RON L here = SERESURPLUS

It depends on where Ya are for legality? Here i WV if your at an outdoor range where the crowd is few and not a manned range master deal It's OK! Try it In Calif at a Rage or in many other States and Places and you'll find yourself in hot water? Best to Look, ask and Don't try till your sure? BNot worth losing a Firearm or a legal beef over it, right?

Remeber, Part of what got the Feds on the Branch Dividians was someone hearing Bump fire that others though was FA fire? I don't want that sort of atention and believe me, neither do you? LOL

Gungirl. In Colorado can you just drive into the Mountains, pick a spot and start shooting or is some Mountain land private land?

I advise you pick a legal spot(shooting range or your own land)...most of our land is goverment owned...besides just getting out and blasting is dangerous.

What is the "ring and string" trick?

Default Bump Shooting

Bump firing done from the hip with a finger worked into the belt loop

Bump Firing with a thick ruber band - Excellent!!

ATF Definition:
The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.

I can see bump firing as being a machine gun. You cycle the trigger one time and it keeps shooting to the mag runs dry or you do something to stop the recoil. So even if the "item" is not banned... such as a "rubber band".... it is now a machine gun as far as the definition goes.
