Bug Out Long Guns
Which long guns would you choose ? The rules here are you can choose up to four but the total weight of the guns and ammo cannot exceed 30 lbs.
For myself, I'm trying to decide which ones to pick. I have a lightweight carbon 15 carbine in .223 with scout scope (gun weight 4.75 lbs or 76 oz) and a lightweight carbon 15 pistol in .223 with scout scope (3.75 lbs or 60 oz). A Benelli M1 super 90 semi auto shotgun (6.7 lbs or 107 oz)and a Mossberg Mariner pump shotgun (6.75 lbs or 108 oz). An M1A1 in .308 semi auto (11 lbs or 176 oz with scope) and a Steyr scout in .308 bolt action with 10 rd magazine (7 3/8 lbs or 118 oz). The scout has a 3-12 scope in replacement of it's standard scout scope.
I'm tending to rule out the shotguns (I know, there very effective and useful) based on the weight of their ammo.
One choice would be to go light on three guns (take the two .223 carbines and the lightweight steyr scout) and load up on ammo. This would results in just over 15.5 lbs of gun leaving over 14.5 lbs available for ammo. In this situation the scout rifle is very accurate and effective at long range while the .223 carbine and pistol would be useful for self defense. If needed I could switch the scopes around.
Another choice would be the M1A1 and the Carbon 15 pistol or the carbine as a two gun system. this would result in a 14.75 gun weight with the pistol or 15.75 with the carbine also leaving around 15 lbs for ammo.
A third choice is the two .223's and the M1A leaving 10.5 lbs for ammo.
What would you pick

The Benelli, Carbon 15 Pistol and the Steyr scout weigh 17 7/8 lbs leaving over 12 lbs for ammo. Maybe that's the best option ?

I posted the handgun choices in the handguns forum, these are only long guns I actually have. I do have a Colt AR15 HBAR as well as a Les Baer that I could choose. The Les Baer sports a Leupold M4. Both have heavy barrels so not sure what they weigh. I also have an AR-10T with a Vortex FFP that weighs in at around 14 lbs.

My AR, plus a handi rifle with a 410/45 combo barrel. And load up the rest on ammo.

Pump over semi-auto for bug-out SG! That's not even a difficult choice.
Bolt over semi-auto .308...same reason.
Carbine over pistol in .223 without even blinking.
That's all you need. At least in long guns.

I won't bug-out ... I'll bug-in with AK47, Mossberg 590A1, and enough ammo to conclude matter absolutely.

If our nation, or your local area is really in the end of the world as we know it, even if temporarily, I wouldn't want to be without a 22lr rifle. I love my 10/22, but I'd probably bring along the scoped Savage bolt-action.
The reason a semi-auto AR is okay (I tend to prefer bolt and pump for SHTF) is that it is so easy to carry along multiples of every spring, pin, and part.
