Ruger 10/22 Takedown is a great shooting rifle and comes with a good bug out bag. You can fit a few mags in there as well as a compact pistol and a few mags for that.

I bought my Vanguard S2 for $429. The few Legacy Sports / Howa 1500s I have seen in stores cost far more. The Vanguard is heavy compared to other entry level rifles, but the build quality - machining, fit and finish, etc. - is better than the Axis, Ruger American et. al. The Vanguard S2 and Howa also come with a two stage trigger, which many people do not like.

Same action, I heard from somewhere that howa actually makes some vanguard actions. I forgot who makes the barrel but I think those are the same also.

All parts for the Howa are made by Howa, they also make parts for Weatherby, Mossberg, and Smith and Wesson. My Howa 1500 is chambered in .308 with a Hogue synthetic stock, Piller bedded, free floating 24 inch BBL barrel. I payed $360 U.S. for the rifle and $20 for scope mount, and I have a number of scopes I use on it ranging for $180-$400.

The weatherby vanguard is the same rifle with a different logo. Duh mossbergs are deferent along with S&W but the vanguard is the same. Try to go buy a howa m1500 stock on the Internet and see how many options it has for the vanguard in the same category as a howa.
