If the OP search shops, he may find a nice Russian. I've seen a few around, under 250.00, all matching 1952,'53. These normally sell for $475.00 these days.
IMHO, I think this is a better rifle/buy. It may cost more then a 91/30, but you can't beat it.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 91/30's, but a Mauser is like your 1st hot and heavy relationship. They don't go psyco either. Alway there, always willing to play, always hits the spot, and you can put them down for a week or 2 and not get phone calls. They are still a fairly cheap date. I'm down to 3 91/30's, 1 being a PU sniper, still have 8 Mauser actions.
