The older ones at times could be hit and miss as to how well they shoot. The last few years they seem to be makeing really solid and accurate rifles with better trigger groups . Other than some of the remingtons built today most companies make good rifles. Much better than older rifles , say , the last 15 years. For the money of a ruger you can buy a tikka t-3 , higher end savage, heck most any other rifle. Look for used and then even an older nice remmy well do. Not thats the customize kings today. Not remington . Got to have smith to make remmington better . You can up grade a savage at home.

My ruger was a good rifle when I bought in 7mmRM it but not a good enough shooter for me. I finally had the 27" krieger barrel put on it , changed stocks ,bedded and blocked, timney trigger set at 1 1/2lbs. great shooter now.

What do you guys...and girls, think would be my best bet. Either new or used

Check out the savage .308, I'm not sure the model but they have a .308 that is shooting consistently at 900 yards.
