if you don't know what's behind your target at that range, you have no business pulling the trigger in the first place.

some of us actually believe in the 10 Rules Of Gun Safety.

I was more referring to spotting your own target. That 8 mph breeze can be 5 feet of drift @1000.
That can be a target miss.

When you have a $2500 dollar gun budget I doubt there is $600 extra for the spotting scope

Do both in the AR-15, chambered in the 6.5 Grendel.

Still supersonic at 1,200 yards!

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

They still shoot 1000 yards matches with black powder cartridge rifles and iron sights. 45-110 was developed for long range target shooting.

Have you ever shot v000 yard competition???
Do you have a 1000 yard range near by to practice??
Do you handload?

If the answer to any of these is no, you might be better off just getting a really good hunting rifle and quaity scope and shooting 600 yard competition (and hunting) for a while.

The .308 would really shine for this, and ammo (or component)costs wouldn't land you in the poor house.

That is a damn sweet rifle and it's certainly a consideration now, but I was honestly looking more for a bolt gun.

1. Haven't shot competition, but interested because I have shot it as practice and just challenging my hunting buddies.
2. Nothing official. Just 12 acres of land of nothing but open flat land
3. Yes I reload
