there's tons of em, I don't know how you would ever pick a "best", sounds like a good argument. I have always used (with a few exceptions) the 30-06 or 30-30 but pretty much the 06 in my adult life, and lately I have been venturing into the 308, really it depends on the country you are hunting, do you need to shoot 300 yards or less than 100 yards, hunting in thick brush or shooting across fields, all kinds of good guns for deer killing. You can cleanly kill a deer by shooting it in the head with a 22LR if you are close enough, though that's generally not legal.

Personally I have the most success with the 30 06. I just wanted a general discussion with some good arguments. This is not a personal question. Im dedicated to my 06. It's good to hear everyone's person prefernces. Just trying to spark something amongst the community.

Thanks,
Riley

Like blue said if I'm hunting open fields were a 400 to 500yd shot could happen I would have to force my self to put thumper aka savage 110 06 down and pick up a 270 or 7mm rem mag but if I'm in thick wood then me and the Duke aka Browning bar 06 will be waiting and if I'm hunting power lines then thumper will be in my hands
