30-06 and 308 the reason why cause every one in my family uses them

Honestly can't beat a. 308. Past couple years been takin the 25-06. Love that rifle.

Ya my first deer rifle was a 308 when I was 10 now im 17 and I got me a couple 30-06 soon to sell one and get me 300 win mag and I like the 25-06 but I cant get away from the big 30s lol

Lol I like big guns but the good ol 338 still makes me shake I been here in California for the past three months and shot my causens custom 300rum and it was nice tell I got scope bit that why im think about its lil bother

If you ask me .300 Win. Mag is a bit much for White-tail let alone a .338..............

You are right about this statement. There are allot of great deer cartridges for hunting deer. 223 , 243,22-250,260,270
That is just a few you could go on for ever. One thing you have to look at when choosing the proper deer cartridge is . Terrane are you spot and stock or are you sitting in a deer stand where you mite shoot out to 200yd. These are things you need to ask your self. I personally use a 270 or a 243 and that's perfect for deer and hogs here in Texas

With proper shot placement, just about anything will take down a deer. Even the lowly 22LR. But a 357, or 44 mag, in either a rifle or pistol is plenty. I don't cover big open fields. I prefer to get in to the woods, where my shots are 50 yards or less. So these calibers work fine for me. And I don't use scopes as I prefer open sights.

We need more info on where you're hunting to give good accurate recommendations.

If i had to pick one round to deer hunt with forever, it would a 30-06.
