Default Best .223/5.56 defensive ammo

Hello, all, I have a Mini-14 for Home Defense, and I was wondering who makes the best defensive ammo in .223/5.56.

I was looking at Hornady's TAP line.

Some'll say hollow points. Some'll say plain 55 gr. milspec that probably break in half on impact. Others, like the Army, for all-purpose work like heavier 62 gr. penetrating bullets. I might guy with the first for in and around the house...

For home defense I'd go with hollow points. 62 gr penetrator raounds are great if you have to punch holes in kevlar vests and helmets, but that's not likely for home defense.

62 grain steel core bullets. Will punch through jackets, clothing, bones, organs and leave a entry hole and exit hole that will drop a BG in their tracks. Just don't point the rifle at your neigbors walls.; (LOL)

When shooting to kill with my 5.56; I prefer to send jacketed soft points down range. The expansion will easily stand toe to toe with any hollow point or ballistic tip, while allowing more penetration. Personally I have shied away from buying any hollows for rifles. ( I just feel there are better options available for the priced per round of hollows)
After buying my AR, I picked up an impressive variety of different rounds in different weights. I suggest you do the same. If your LGS does not carry any JSP in 5.56, look online you will not be disapointed dealing with these folks.

http://http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/ look into their DRS reloads, I have never had a problem with any of there ammo, and at the PPR i would like to think they are one of the best deals currently available for brass cased ammo.
