DefaultBAR trouble.....

Our Browning BAR is not a perfectly-functioning machine. Whenever we take it out to the range and load it up, it tends to dry-fire once or twice, though it works afterwards. When I say dry-fire, I mean there's a loud CLICK, and no boom... with no mark from the firing pin on any of the bullets.

Any idea what is wrong with it?

Gunk in the firing pin channel. A couple of tries gets the gunk loosened up and then it works. Detail cleaning whould fix it. Never lubricate firing pins, they should be kept dry.

Damn. Thought the title was referring to a different kind of bar trouble...

Anywho, what they said. ^

Taking apart the bolt in a BAR is extremely difficult for many people, truthfully I've never gotten the one I've worked on completely disassembled. As stated above, the firing pin channel being gunked up is usually the cause of these kind of problems. Then again you may be having some heavy hammer drag, be sure to clean the gunk out of the trigger assembly as well and make sure every thing moves easily and properly.
