In terms of performance the 300 WSM is at leased within 100 fps with 150-200gr bullets, published load data has them at a dead heat.
The 270 WSM is hot on the heels of the 270 Wby some data has them neck and neck.
The 7mm WSM matches the 7mm Rem Mag across the board, I doubt you would ever see a difference in performance, and last but not least the 325 WSM is a ballistic twin to the 8mm Rem Mag they are as close as any two cartridges can be.

The short mag design has alot of advantages in terms of consistency and efficiency, I don't think they are going away any time soon, mine sure is not going anywhere. Flattest shooting deer rifle around, I got mine shooting a flatter trajectory then a 257 Wby or 264 Win Mag.

There is dislike for belted magnums, short magnums, Super short magnums. Now a WSSM I can see the reason. I have no issue w/ any really. I like my old belted 7mm Rem mag. Others think it is a dinosaur, don't care. I would like a STW.

.270wsm will put 3 shot ragged holes @100yds as long as you let the barrel cool between rounds.

The man says he likes the caliber, you Dog it on your 6th post. No class. Now it is your turn.

He has most likely ever shot a 7mm of any sort. I find it funny he likes a .270, that is one round I just see no purpose to. The .325 attemped to replicate the 8mm Rem Mag. Maybe he dislikes metrics, but call them a standard designation, he is all over it. Call it a .280 WSM, still a 7mm.

the short mags have a following for sure. i see what they wre trying to achieve with them. but IMO, if you already have some of the standard chamberings, i see not a huge advantage in going that route. nothing wrong with them IMO, but i wouldnt go out and replace the rifles i already have with short mags. now if i was starting from scratch, i might see an advantage. IMO, short mags are really more for a shooter who reloads.

even used in my area, i very ever see any rifles chambers in any of the short mags. if i was looking to buy another rifle to tinker with and shoot, and i ran across a short mag, and if the price was right, i'd buy it for sure. and i would probably enjoy shooting and reloading for it just all my others.
