Any suggestions for a new toy?
With tax time quickly approaching, I've decided I'm going to buy what I want. My budget is up to $1500. I want something you don't see everyday. Initially, that was a Desert Eagle .50, until I picked one up, I promptly handed all 12 pounds back to the guy, that thing feels a tommy gun.
So, any suggestions? I am leaning towards an M1A, but already have a Garand so I'm not sure about that one.
Something with historical significance is always a plus.
Preferably no obsolete calibers and something that could be useful if it ever did hit the fan. (It won't break if/when under "stressful" conditions)
Thanks guys.

The M1A is basically an upgraded version of the M1 Garand. In my opinion the M1A is the cream of the crop (along with the M1 Garand) regarding .30 caliber semi automatic rifles. I would personally get an M1A, because I love the M1 series of rifles/carbines, and it's ammunition is more affordable to shoot than the M1 Garand.
Some "unique" rifles I know of in your price range that I recommend you look at are the Steyr M95 Mannlicher, Auto Ordnance replica of the Tommy gun (Model 28 or M1), Swiss Schmidt Rubin, Springfield Trapdoor, Winchester lever guns or replicas by Uberti/others, Sharps replica in 45-70, M1 Carbine, and so on.

You can get a Rossi, or EMF for about $750.00. 1892 Lever gun is a classic! My EMF Hartford .44-40 has a 24" octoganal barrel. Great 100 yard rifle and fun. It is very cheap to reload for. A buddy has a .45LC Rossi. When ammo was tight he had trouble finding ammo. There was always a few flavors of .44-40 on the shelf.
Edit: they come in .357, .44-40, .44mag, .45LC

How about a crate of Mosin Nagants. For a little more than $1500 you can get twenty of them in the unopened crate. Or buy 10 and engough ammo to last a lifetime.

Huh? I had to read that twice, 500 for an AK or 700 FOR AN SVD. Sounds like a deal. That would be pretty sweet, and as for the Nagants, I wouldn't give $200 for a crate of 'em. I don't mind M44s but don't like the 9 foot barrel on a 91/30

That is no SVD! It is a Romanian PSL/FPK that they call a dragunov. It is not even a real PSL.
