there are a buch of stories of how many remington 700s will just go off i say crap i have not ever had an issue and have used them even while in the military ie an m24 same platform and yes i love mine i would recomend remington to anyone.

I actually was at the range with someone I knew and his went off when he was closing the bolt... To my understanding this was fixed around 2006?

Yes it happens. The fellow who invented the Remington 700 testified that it could be and should have been fixed. He was fired by Remington for his speaking out on the problem. I had a Mdl. 700 in .17 Remington that would fire while closing the bolt. This kind of thing happens in making cars or airplanes cost cutting can often lead to product problems.

That really sucks, I hear a lot of bad things about newer remington rifles anymore, I'm hesitant about getting one

Don't be. The problem isn't in the gun but the jack asses who mess w the trigger who have no clue what the hell they are doin. Even the guy who admitted Remington had a problem a) was PAID to say that and b) admitted the problem comes from people tampering w the triggers 9 out of 10 times. Yes some of em do go bang for odd reasons, but EVERY brand of rifle has them. So buy a Remington if that's what you want and don't listen to idiots that have no damn clue what they are talking about. I do bc iv FIXED god knows how many of them after uncle billy bob "fixed the triggers".

that was the older models they have since gone to a new trigger system and there have been no more incidents and dont always belive what is put on liberal media or from folsk looking for a quick buck. if in fact they are as bad as they claimed in that expose which i also watched our military and many law enforcement agncies would have stopped using them long ago. the m24 is still in service in the military as well as the m40 though the m40 is now being switched to a 300winmag for longer distance. i wont say there has never been an issue but it can happen with anything not just a rem. 700 cars with bad breaks buses and the list could go on nothing in life is perfect but again that was the nld trigger system not the newer models.

Marlins are damn good guns. Kinda limited in calibers but they have one in every popular round so its alright.
