All purpose rifle?
I need to find a good all around rifle, nothing really special, just an accurate bolt action under $800. I am not sure what caliber I want it in but I would like it to be good at long ranges, cheapish to shoot, and can take a dear. I havent bought a rifle in a long time, and I want a simple bolt gun because all I have are old remington 740's. Thanks

Only slightly joking... get a Mosin-Nagant and $700 worth of 7.62x54r ammo.

If the 800 does not include a scope I would suggest a Ruger 77 or a Remington 700 in the classic 308. I prefer 7-08 but it is more expensive to shoot as there is no military ammo for it.

Ive looked at a few marlins, anything from savage? and it doesnt have to be a scope/gun combo. I dont want a nagant yet.

Most savages can be had for $800 or less. I just prefer marlins or to build my own.

243-257 Roberts-25/06-260-6.5 Creedmoor-7mm-08-270-280-308-or 30/06.
Any of these calibers will suit your needs.
As for a brand, which ever one fits you the best and is in your price range. I personally like Savage, but Marlin-Howa-Winchester-Remington-Tikka,and several other brands make good accurate rifles.
