The biggest I've heard of is .58, I'm not to sure how much bigger they get though.

They make up to .50 Cal rifles. (That I know of)
My preference (not that I own one yet) is the .308 You can get a few more shots without loosing much power and it has plenty of knockdown power.
I've seen deer, elk and big horn taken with one.
People have no clue of what is made for air rifles, everything from suppressed rifles to shotguns and full auto belt fed.
Just for a glimpse of what's out there.

Damn guys, I had no idea! Now that it looks like I'm going to become addicted to something else, who's sending me to Passages at Malibu?

Aren't air rifles completely unrestricted? I know their suppressors are, but what about all the other stuff like length, rate of fire and caliber?

I don't know of any restrictions other than mechanical limitations. They aren't classified as a firearm (in my state).

Mountain, what led you to become so versed in air rifles? I've never thought much about them since my first .22 around age 10 or so, you really got me thinking.

Survival. If guns are banned or ammo scarce and you can't get black powder, you can always mould bullets for an airgun.
My buddy took me to an airgun show and really opened my eyes to the possibilities.
He has a 7 shot .25 caliber rifle. The impact of the round is louder then the gun going off. Pretty nasty weapon. He's taken all sorts of game with it.

I had no idea there were air gun shows. What would a top tier money doesn't matter setup cost including accessories and ammo? What are the specs/capabilities of such a rig?

Here's some reading.
You can spend well over $1000 for everything.

I use the .177 for stuff in my backyard but a .22 is better. I would spend the extra money if I were you and get a nitro piston gun though, they don't wear out as fast and they can be left cocked without doing damage to the gun. Gamo guns are known for the crap scopes they come with so either buy a different gun or a new scope. I have had my eye on this scope
