Which is a larger caliber rifle a 7mm-08 or a .308?

The 308 is. 7mm-08 uses a .284 caliber bullet.

The 308 is the parent case for the 7mm08 and 243.

.308in = 7.62mm
.284in = 7mm
.243in = 6mm

7mm uses a .284" diameter bullet. The .308 uses a ....308" diameter bullet. The .308 is larger, but the 7mm-08 is simply a "necked down" .308
