I bought a Marlin camp gun in 45 ACP many years ago at Walmart for about $140 and sold it a few years ago for $550 and have regretted it ever since. I was into revolvers back then and only had an old Remington Rand 1911 and failed to see the value in a pistol round carbine...duh!

As far as the pro-mags go, the 10 round ones are better built than the stock ones and quite reliable. I had owned a Hi-Point 9mm pistol and it had lots of FTFs but only on the stock magazine..the pro-mags worked flawlessly.
That said, the pistol was really one of those things where you get what you pay for even if they are a good value. The 955 is a step above.

If you loosen the grip screw on the side shown in the picture do they still work? The pistols do not and that is the reason Hi Points are an absolute no go in my world.
Walgreens sells eye glasses that might help, that is my picture and it is not that of a pistol, nor are they built the same. And yes, they only use their own mags, but at $18.00 each I have a ton of them.

Don't use one, it's your loss.

My main want in a 9mm carbine is that it uses Beretta 92 mags. The Kel Tec and the Beretta Storm are the only ones I have found that do. The Storm sells for over $700. You cant find a KelTec that does not have rip off prices plus you have to spend an additional $300 on the Kel Tec on accessories to make them decent. That makes them about the same price. You can buy an AR cheaper. A Marlin or Ruger rifle in 357 would be cheaper.

The only down fall to the 995 is taking it apart to clean. I have shot about 500 rounds and so far have only cleaned barrel. I've had zero FTFs. You tube has a few videos on tearing it down. It doesn't look hard just time consuming.

This morning CDNN had a Kel Tec Sub 2000 9mm for Glock mags. $400.

I have a mill bastard file that takes care of the promag issue. Your local hardware store has a file for you. You have to file some of the Hi Point magazines down to make the gun function. If the magazine is dragging the slide you have two choices fix it or get rid of it.

It's not hard. I didn't think it took much time, but it is a little longer than

your average milsurp weapon field-strip.
