91/30 scope mount

I saw a nice looking reproduction of a sniper scope mount on ebay and my question is can it accept a normal scope or do i have to buy an original scope. Heres a link to the mount

Well it says the rings are 26.5mm, so you will need to get a scope with that tube diameter.

You would need to buy a original. The rings are a pain to open. There cast iron. You can buy the complete set on cheaper than dirt. I got mine there for 130$. But go to a gunsmith to install it. A normal scope may fit but you would have to strip it to the tube and put it in. The rings are a single mold with out a hinge. And only open so far.

Glad i could help. But the paper that comes with the scope, for installation. Say to mount it in the stock, but have the gunsmith cut out that part of the stock and mount it to the actual receiver. But it cost me 100 bucks to get it installed with a custom bent bolt. But the cut away for the bolt ( it has to be angled) wont take stain very well.

If you are not interested in spending $200 to mount a scope on a $100 rifle there is another alternative. Beneath the standard Mosin rear sight there is a 3/8 dovetail base. Remove the old rear sight and mount your scope. You may need a pistol scope with enough eye relief due to the distance.
