Ya it looks like a 48 The wood surounds the rear sight like a Yugo.

if the ball on the bolt handle is flat on the underside...its a m48 + the wrap around butt plate is a dead give away...range report ASAP

You guys keep forgetting about Belgian Mausers. The 24/47 and M48 are patterned after FN designs. I have a 24/47 that was a Belgian M24 at some time.

10/4 JP...shouldnt his rifle have some kind of markings,numbers,crest somewhere on it to determine the origin/make of his rifle...we need good pics to identify exact!

Finally got the mauser. Got it for 140 after a lil jewing down,lol. came with150 rds of ammo.; Ill get up some pics tonight after work

The first rifle i ever shot was a 8MM mauser, i loved the crap outa it, my buddy was going to sell it to me when i was about to leave for college but i let it slip away and i have always regreted it, we use to buy a 1k case of mil surplus ammo for 50 bucks, go to his cabin in the woods and blast away, even made our own rounds for it, you got a pretty good deal enjoy it.
