7mm rem. Mag 1000 yards?

I have a winchester model 70 in a 7mm mag if im shooting 100 grain bullets what kind pf drop would i expect at 1000 yards

With that bullet, drop at 1000 would be measured in yards.

Different bullets have different ballistic coefficents. Part is driven by weight/diameter, part by shape. The higher the BC, the better at very long range. All of the 100 grainers have pretty low BCs.

With a 200 yard zero, at 300 it will be about 5.5 inches low. At 400, 17 inches, and at 500, 36 inches. From there it sinks like an rainbow.

C3 told you the truth. If you want to shoot that far w a 7mm mag and its for target shootin then try something like the Black Hills premiere 185 gr BT Fmj. Or the barnes tsx in 175 grain BT ballistic tip.

Ok but im kind of confused with a heavier bullet wouldnt it just drop faster???

No bc it has more power behind it in momentum. It also has a better bullet coefficient(BC).

How far can you throw a ping pong ball compaired to to throwing a golf ball?? same principal applies to bullets.

You make a bullet too heavy your then thowing a bowling ball. The bowling ball does more damage at close range but you cant get it out very far.

Bullet design is a balance between weight and aerodynamics and diameter. Just because its a screamer at short range doesnt always hold true once you get downrange a bit.

at a 200 yard zero with a Hornady SST 162 gr your looking at 34.8" drop @ 500 beyond that it really really falls off quickly after that range . if you looking at 1000 yards I would be looking at a different rifle , Something more like a 50 BMG , 6.5 to be honest. there are plenty of rifles capable of 1000 yards but if your looking for something that wont drop 10 ft there are better choices

6.5 creedmore, 7.82 warbird, 338 luapa, 7mm ultra mag comes to mind

I had to calculate the 100gr at 3500fps. 375" drop w/ 100 yard zero. About -10+ yards!
