7mm-08 ammo?

Got a Tc venture in 7mm-08 I was going to try some barns vor-tex 120 gr just wondering if anyone out there used this load on whitetail, and how it performed?

I personally havent used that round or a 7mm-08 so take this with a grain of salt. I have shot barnes out of my -06 and they performed pretty well. Never taken deer with it but man does work on rabbits! :p if your rifle likes the round then you should be fine

I've never used a 7mm-08 or barns bullet, but I have used a 7mm Mauser and the ballistics are almost identical. Personally I would want to go with at least a 140gr bullet minimum. I've loaded some 162gr Hornady's for this coming season. :)

The 7-08 is an excellent deer cartridge.

Plenty of power, so no need for expensive premium ammo. Winchester Power Points or Remington Core Lokt will work just fine, and are a lot less expensive.:p

Premium bullets would be a good choice for elk or moose:)

You don't need a premium bullet for white tail. Pick a more cost wise bullet design from most anyone.
hornady 12ogr or 139gr sst . I have used the 139gr sst for years in a 7 mag but it has allways work very well from 25feet to 385 yards.
If you have the barnes then try them and make notes on how they shoot. They would be fine on a elk for short to mild range and they well do on deer just kinda costly.

I have a Thompson center venture 7mm-08 and I shoot federal premium fusion 140 grain and it is the best bullet I have ever shot! Great accuracy and performance!

I use the Barnes 120gr tsx on hogs and it works great. I don't know if you have shot targets with your load but messing with the seating depth is very important with solid copper bullets.
