I use an abandoned coffee maker with a vinyl tube connected to the tit in the tank, let the water brew off straight down the bore from the chamber end. The bore and chamber are so hot when you are finished, that the water evaporates almost instantly. I then clean as I would any firearm. I shoot a heck of a lot of surplus ammo and have not ever had a problem with corrosion. (or rust, for that matter)

You also want to pay attention to the bolt head and magazine after shooting the corrosive stuff, I usually drop all of the small parts in the bottom of the old boiler I use to collect the brewed water in when it leaves the muzzle.

The cheapest non-corrosive ammo I've found is here: http://www.sgammo.com/product/tula/20-rds-762x54r-148-grain-fmj-non-corrosive-tula-ammo but it is steel case ammo, so non-reloadable. Have any of you used the steel case stuff and is it alright to shoot?

Go to www.ammoseek.com it's a search engine for ammo.

Hey thats no joke. Last time I looked at new unloaded brass it was $69.00 for 50 rounds! It is way cheaper to buy loaded ammo.

If you are not concerned with reloading there is nothing wrong with brown/silver bear ammo. I shot a doe in the neck with a 203 gr brown bear soft point. The brown bear almost cut her head off.

Steel case ammo is the only ammo issued for the 7.62X54R .

Some how, a few ignorant people have convinced many folks here that there is something wrong with steel cased ammo. THERE ISN"T!!!

Yugo M30(J) is brass case (Prvi Partisan) . Too bad it still is berdan primed. It is much easier shooting the most com blok steel cased light ball. Very accurate 182gr boat tail bullet. This is the only ammo I use in my PU 91/30 sniper besides handloads. Funny that it was made through the '90's but still used corrosive primers.

Other counties that made brass case, China, Bulgaria, Poland, and Albania. Lets not forget England and the U.S. in Czarist years. The biggest producer of Brass cased was Finland.
