This dude here says Remington 700 in .308 did this, I"m not sure I buy it.

Those may have been sold to him as AR500 but I have to believe that target is mild steel . If it were indeed AR500 it wouldnt look like that , we have some mild steel 1" targets that we shoot .223 , .308 and 30.06 at and they have no pass thru holes but major damage to them , The mild steel even in 1" thick just isnt hardened enough like the AR500 and AR700 targets

And man oh man I would have never guessed that the .50 BMG would have ripped the chains off that target , knocked it over yes but wow that was awesome !!!!

I have a .308 and I have shot steel targets before. There is NO WAY that was done with a .308 unless he had AP rounds. The worst my 168gr. ever did was mess up the paint and leave a flower pattern where the round mushroomed. Never even a dent at 200 yards.

I second Dillinger. Theres no chance that a .308 could cause that much damage to steel. And yes the .50cal vid. was predictable , but it was still pretty cool.
