i had to go to the Mossberg website and check that out. very interesting. price isn't bad either. if anyone has gotten one or shot one i would be interested in their input on this rifle.

Well, besides the differences on the diagram in the throat radii, the NATO cartridges have thicker walls for higher durability, which means less space inside for the powder, which results in higher pressure.

All my illusions are shattered! Or at least the one about .223/5.56 casing wall thicknesses.
At least if one can trust Wikpedia anyways.

Thanks for the link. That is . . interesting. I know many do shoot 5.56 in .223 rifles. Have any of you who do, ever have damage from it?

Looking at the article, it seems that some but not all NATO brass is thicker with smaller capacity.

Just fyi wikipedia is not a reputable source. When using wiki for info you need a second or third source to confirm. Wiki is a user editable webpage which means anyone can become a "wiki contributor" and print "facts"

303tom If you did not read about the difference by looking it up you will never understand the difference.

Vincine I have seen several of Rock River Arms varment rifles with just a trigger change to 3lb shoot factory loads of .223 fed match under 3/4 and home brewed loads under 3/8" at 100 yards. Amassing accurate rilfes. They had RRA wilson arms air guaged 24" barrels. Both had a added adjustable cheek welds added.

O that is epic bull**** they are both the damn same, ones military one civilain!! I shoot a ar-15 with .223 and 5.56x45 and by God theres not a diffirence in function! O plus my ishapore smle 2A 7.62 eats .308 to along with 7.62x51. Ha that email makes me dislike remington even more.

If ur lookin for a bolt action .223 theres mossberg mvp series excepts ar-15 magazines real good lookin gun havent seen a price tag yet tho
