I have used the .338 Win Mag for over 40 years. It is an outstanding rifle here in the Rocky Mtns. They are powerful long range rifles. The .338 in a good rifle is very accurate. It is not too big for deer or anything you choose to use it for. I prefer the 250 gr. bullet handloaded.

I have friend who is guide in africa and I am think of going with him in the next year or so and he said my 7 mm mag is all I will need for I am going hunt but I am think get it for the trip. I like the around for long flat shooting. I will use it for deer at home in SC too. I like to know when I shoot that the hunt is over. You know what mean.

I have shot a 338 Win Mag for 30 years, and have taken many elk, deer, antelope and coyotes with this cartridge. Never felt it was too big. I tried a few light bullets but was almost exclusively a 250 grn Nosler Partiton shooter. A very good, hunting cartridge.

30-30 I can tell you know the .338 Win Mag. Only a fellow who has used one knows how useless the light bullets are.

Think I am going to get the rem 700 in 338 win mag. That will good set up because I like that gun and that round. Put a 4 ×16 × 50 with a 30mm tube.

I like a good 6 power for my shooting. Get a good scope and mounts the big rifles will wipe out a cheap scope pronto. Sounds like a 700 Rem. will make a nice set up good luck.
