Don't blame u but if u don't reload for it it's a pain to find shells the first shotgun I ever shot was a sixteen single shot and that sob came back and poped me the mouth lol cuz I never shot any thing besides a 22 at the time

Me either, respect to you because you know your stuff, but so do I. Trying to give the OP a valid point of view. I think .338 is overkill for deer. Will it kill a deer? Sure! Will a .308 kill an elk? Sure.

You made very clear point that I might have missed also, his exp with magnum rifles, you were very correct that its way to much gun for a newbie. But like we both agree do u have to shoot a magnum for deer an elk? no way, any well placed from a 243 is gonna get it done. It all comes down to trigger time behind the gun, being able to handle the gun in any real hunting situation, an well placed shots. The biggest magnum on a poor shot is still a sin in my eyes. As u have said , shoot it an shoot it well or dont shoot at an animal it deserves that

i removed posts that were either not contributing to the discussion by replying to posts that were argumentative and negative or were fighting with other members. if it continues those that disturb the peace further will ride pine for a few days. i prefer not to lock threads or give timeouts. please dont attack each other.
its over no further comments about it need be said.
enjoy the res of the evening discussing big bore hunting
