For a guy that owns Weatherby's they are cartridges, but if you actually were a hunter, you would know that. Time to go back to MW2.

Roy Weatherby did go to Africa and hunted w a 257 Weatherby. I read about it a long time ago but it is also on Wikipedia - cape buffalo - must have been before 375 limit ? This is not tall tales kinda stuff . Feel free to look it up under Wikipedia : 257 Weatherby Magnum : Performance.

Yes, it was people like Ole Roy that put a stop to this disregard for big game animals. Bill Ruger bragged in his ads that killing great apes was fun with the then new Ruger .44 Mag carbine. His pictures in magazines smiling with a dead ape did not fare all that well. These men were selling firearms period.

Starting this year we hunters here in Indiana can use cal.s like .450 Bushmaster, .454 Casull .458 SOCOM, .460 S&W, .50 Beowulf, .50AE, & .500 S&W. A friend just droped $1000 on an AR15 .458 SOCOM upper for his deer gun, I told him I'll stick with my 12ga shotgun we don't normally get any more than a 100yd shot anyway.

7.62 My old college buddy lives back east in Indiana. He is a Maga Big farmer in Jackson Co. He kills deer every year seldom over 40 yards. I think I would use a 12 Ga slug in that country.

BluCdog yes I like the rifles also. Problem is the folks back in Indiana can only use pistol length rounds .44,357 etc. in a rifle. I think a good slug gun would be a great close range hammer.

Ya i know, the southern and some central areas of Wisconsin are only allowed shotguns, handguns, and muzzleloaders. I would hate hunting there.

Back in the 1970's I hunted in areas in Colorado that change to shotgun only due to their proximity to communities. At least they didn't shut down hunting altogether.
