Default 325 wsm

Hey Guys,
I have been doing a lot of reading on the 325 WSM and it sounds like a good rifle to own for elk maybe moose hunting.
Do any of you guys have experience with a 325 WSM?
Do you like it?

Why not look for a good used 8mm Mag? Do you reload? The WSM ammo is tough to come by and pricey. The 8 will shoot 220 gr pills. If you don't reload the 8mm group is tough. Either a .300 or .338 would be better.

yes I do reload.
From everything I read the ballistics seem to be better on the 325 wsm than either one of those rounds?
I was really thinking that the 8mm bullet would be better for moose??

You are thinking that moose are tougher than they are. Big bones, but not as thick as Elk. The .325wsm and 8mm RM are very close. You need to remember the SD also. You could move to a 7mm Rem mag and take both easily. For a little more punch a 7mm Weatherby mag would work. The BC and SD are excellent in the 7mm class. I use my 7mm Rem Mag out to 500 yards on Elk. I am using 140 and 160gr Barnes w/ IMR4831.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, I have a fond place for the 8mm. I hunt w/ a 1955 Husqvarna built on a 1947 FN '98 reciever w/ an original side mount scope mount.

After having shot 1 quite a bit, I really like the .325WSM. Since you reload I don't see where you could go wrong with the 325WSM. Reloading eliminates almost all concerns about ammo price/availability. If I wasn't already in the middle of building myself a 35 whelen for elk my next choice would be the 325WSM.

I have heard good things about the WSM calibers. and I have no problem finding ammo for it. any walmart around here has it. Bass Pro also has several different options for it.

maybe go to a range and rent a gun that shoots 325WSM and try it out? thats what I would suggest.
