It would seem to be easier to get parts for the 322a but the svt-40 might have a bit better down range energy if barrels are of equal quality it should be more accurate at those longer ranges and you may be the only svt at the range.

I bought a nice SVT-40 last Spring, dirt cheap. I have to tell you, it is a fun gun to shoot. They are accurate and reliable and pack a good punch. They will also wake the dead when you shoot one. (especially if you are standing slightly behind and right or left of the muzzle, it will jar your world)

When you disassemble one, you can see that it is the ancestor of the SKS. I would hate to have to clean one in the field; too many small parts and the springs will get away from you unless you have three hands.
