Before you buy a bolt, take a hard look at the FNAR. It's semi auto, has standard scope mounting, not way out on the barrel, and they're incredibly accurate

It's similar to the Browning semi BAR, but with a 20 round box mag, and an alloy receiver to reduce weight

And it's got that incomparable and legendary FN quality.

This is something I'm looking to do over time and fyi, I'm not loaded so trying to keep my costs down. I couldn't and will not buy a 1000 dollar rifle. Like I said, just looking for a starting point rifle. Thanks in advance for your input
I did not read all the posts so this have been mentioned already.
But I have an FN AR which is VERY accurate and it looks more like a BAR than an AR. Mine has the 20 HVY Fluted BBL. I would recommend it over the AR platform, but to each his own!
I guess I should have read the post just above mine!
If you want more info PM me.

I'm in the process of buying a Howa 1500 Tactical from Turners. It's in .7.62X51 NATO/.308, has a 20" heavy barrel and comes with a detachable 10rd magazine and a 0MOA picatinny scope base/rail. $569. Hogue Overmolded stock but that will go as soon as I can afford a B&C.

Op hasn't been here in a month and a half. That said, I saw a cetme on armslist for $400. Said they paid $600, but it is jamming with a ftf. Opinions?
