Hi, why not just use an original no4 rear sight ,it should fit with a bit of filing /grinding .. If you cant get the bit I probably have one or two in my junk piles ,having sporterized more than a few ,or I am sure there is an aftermarket aperture that sight that is made to fit on the rear of theaction needs two holse to be drilled and tapped .. Makes a real neat job .. you can get me at lefty1@paradise.net.nz

ok so I got pissed off with this damn gun and decided that I wanted the real deal so I went back to the pawn shop where I got it and raised a stink and they had a enfield there. So I swaped it. here are pics of what i have now the ticket says its a No. 1 and that is all. I cant find any stamps on it other than the serial number and the year of 1941. Also I found a capitol B but this one has not been butchered. here are some pics if you guys can help me identify it. thanks in advance.

That looks a lot like a No.4 to me, wonder why it says No.1
Either way, you have the real deal now, congrats.

I'll look at your pics more when i get some more time and see if I can help.

Hi ,definately a n04 rifle but the identifying marks are usually on the other side of the butt socket under the bolt handle knob .. the no marks and the smooth cocking piece point to a made in india gun ,well used too ..Rob

Just 4 # serial & no letters, I would say early BSA, it`s got the right kind of rear sight................

See that is what I am thinking however I cant find any crowns on it anywhere or a country like England stamped on it. However there is a capitol B stamped in a few spots.

There is also a crown on the side of the cocking piece................in the 2nd picture.
